usain bolt
Melinda asked:

An average German Shepherd do run at 26mph. Usain Bolt just broke the world record in the 200m in 19.19 seconds. Calculate out to be 28mph. So Usain can get away from a police dog, right?

  1. Hater Police says:

I doubt he would ever need to…

  2. HQ says:

No, simply because he could not sustain that speed as long as a police dog.

  3. Crazy Dave says:

Maybe for a short distance but most dogs such as German Shepard’s are built to maintain top speed for a much longer distance.

  4. Lee says:

Once he hit 20+ seconds he would need to be scaling a fence just my opinion

  5. Jack says:

At a top speed Usain Bolt runs at 24-27 miles per hour. So yes, for a peroid, but I doubt he’d have the stamina to outrun the dog by more than a few minutes.

Well it would be a good race anyway. The last K9 competition I competed in, there was an award given to the fastest dog. All of the dogs were between 20-30mph with the fastest being gunned at 27 mph, and the slowest at 19 mph for about 50 yards. Would he get away??? If it were set up on a track in perfect conditions, then maybe but, if he had to go over numerous fences and avoid all the trash and junk in peoples backyards while running, I’d put my money on the dog.
