Who do you think will have the fastest man in the world title after Sunday Usain Bolt or Tyson Gay?
Trey asked:
The IAAF World Track and Field championship will commence on Saturday, but the big race is between Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay in the mens 100m..just want to get your opinions on who you think will win this race?

I’m really looking forward to this race, I still think Bolt will win, but it will be good to see him challenged in a big race.
If Gay wins, I would call it a huge upset…
well, even before today i knew bolt was going to win, and he did! 9.58! th fastest man in the world…again! beat his own record =]
Well, Bolt won today. As of now, he is the fastest man in the world. But to be honest, if Gay were 100% he would give him a run for his money. Gay was a very respectable 9.71, the 3rd fastest time ever run. He had pulled his groin muscle 2 months ago and was not able to get out of the blocks as fast was he could.
I’m sure he’ll do the 200, but he won’t be 100%. And Tyson Gay isn’t trying to save face or anything like that. He’s not that way. Anyone will tell you he’s one of those class act athletes and all-around good guys. He’s been plagued with some unfortunate injuries. So I’m waiting for the London Olympics in 2012 for the really big show. Hopefully by then, Gay will be at 100%. Or maybe the worlds in South Korea in 2011. It’s a shame he had to have this injury now. If he hadn’t, I think the race today would have been a nail-bitter. Epic.
While Bolt is electrifying, some are put-off by his showmanship and think he is cocky. I for one think he’s just very confident (and he has every reason to be). I don’t think he’s trying to be a jerk. I think he’s just young, and out there because he loves to run and is having a blast while doing it. Maybe he just doesn’t realize that others may interpret what he does in a negative light. I think it’s good for the sport and will bring more much needed attention.
But for now, he is undoubtedly the fastest man in the world. Unless Gay pulls off a miracle to be him in the 200m. Then more questions will be raised.
Tyson Gay is from my home town and if he were a hundred percent that race would’ve been closer but Bolt probably would’ve won. I do think Gay can challenge Bolt though.
